The Project ELEVATE Simulated Classroom
Gifted Education Program, University of Central Florida

Objectives and design
The Simulated Classroom was developed over 5 years to depict the diversity of students who stem from diverse countries, cultures, socio-economic levels, ethnicities and languages.

These 5 cases stem from real case studies of students within this specific school district, but data have been changed to obscure any personal information, and modified for the purposes of this training.

In line with data stemming from the school district to represent major ethnic groups, students were chosen from 5 different countries:
South Korea
South Africa
Mexico
Brazil
Ireland

In addition these cases range in terms of their level of giftedness, their level of achievement (high, underachiever and overachiever), and the nature of their interests, learning styles and preferences.
This allows teachers to examine each case and understand their unique needs and then plan curriculum appropriately in developing their educational plan that is culturally, internationally and linguistically responsive.
